SCENE: Sen. Joe Manchin and a couple aides are waiting for an elevator on the first floor of the US Capitol. Ask a Pol’s Matt Laslo gives them space until and elevator arrives and he joins them.
Matt Laslo: “Curious, are you opposed to SAFER Banking — that marijuana banking bill?”
Joe Manchin: “Am I opposed to it?”
ML: “Opposed to it.”
JM: “I don’t know the details on it, but I'm not opposed to anything that’s ‘safer.’”
Manchin laughs.
